Who (or what) are the Messengers?

The Messengers are essentially dead people who can’t move on to the afterlife because they have something important to do that they didn’t finish during their lifetime. They are dead, but they’re stuck in the living world – attached to either a person or people, or to a place.

Who are the Messengers in the story?

Luke Makaio and Kyle Nekos are both Messengers. There are others, but you’ll see.

What kind of abilities could a Messenger have?

This varies from Messenger to Messenger, but in general they can do things like heal injuries, appear or disappear at will, and read the thoughts and memories of living people around them.

What’s with the wings?

They’re mostly symbolic – kind of like their job “uniform” – but when a Messenger has manifested in physical form, they can be used as a mode of transport. Kind of a nice perk for being dead and all.
