Hi there! Due to some unexpected real-life goings-on, Follower & Messenger have gotten a little off track! I sat down with my planning notes and a list of everything I need to finish for various upcoming deadlines and made a plan.
The short of it is, Messenger will resume regular updates on August 6, 2016.
The long version is, I have a host of deadlines for small (but exciting!) anthology projects coming up quickly, and I want to knock those out of the way so I can focus on regular comics again. Patreon reward art is a priority of course, and Patreon backers will also continue to get in-progress comic updates as I work through all this stuff.
In the meantime, if you’d like to contribute any kind of fan art or fiction in this unplanned break, I’d love to show it off here on the site. Link me to wherever you’ve posted it, or send me a note at: bug at messenger-comic dot com.
Thank you very much for your patience while I sort through all this stuff, and we’ll be back and better than ever in just a couple of weeks!
After what’s been an extended, unplanned break from Messenger, we’re planning to be back on July 2!
I’ve started work on the next chapter a couple of times over, and just haven’t been happy with the script. So Delade and I are currently working through it to improve it. I’d rather take the time to do it right than deliver a comic I’m not happy with, so I hope you’ll understand the minor delay.
We’ve also been hard at work with a number of other updates, including the new site design you’re looking at right now! Hopefully it feels more unified with Follower and the rest of the Radio Chio galaxy. We’ve also built a new and improved store page, where you can find all of our comic works and other stuff for sale, no matter where it is online.
Just this week, we released a new digital comic, which includes both of the minicomic extras from the first print issue of Messenger. Since I’m not entirely certain if I’m going to print Messenger in stand-alone issues again in the future, I decided it’s time to make these available to everyone! The comic is a downloadable PDF with 20 pages of comics that have never been seen outside of print. Download “Defend the Hill” from Gumroad for $1.50 (or more, if you think it’s worth it!) Although Messenger might not see individual print issues again, I’m currently investigating compiling chapters 1-10 into a “volume 1” of some kind, if it can be done economically. Maybe through a print on demand service, I’m not sure yet!
Thanks for reading and your continued support, and we’ll see you back here on July 2!
Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a quick post noting that the comic will update on 4/3 this weekend instead of tomorrow, 4/2. We are up to our ears preparing for the Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo tomorrow, and I’d rather not rush a comic page in before I try to get to bed early. We have to be on the road by 5 am tomorrow, ugh! If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, please stop in and see us! We will have books and prints, and there are tons of workshops and events going on all day. Best of all, admission is free!
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
